About the School

Written by Martie Fourie.

A mother’s love can change the world!
This is exactly what happens when Mike and Gloria Botha started their quest to put a support group in place where parents of children with intellectual disability can meet and exchange ideas. Their daughter Cherè Botha, who died at age 4, was the motivation behind the Chere Botha School. Today, situated on three different premises in Bellville, this institute serves children with intellectual disability (Downs Syndrome, Turners Disease, Autism, etc.).

Opened in 1981, the Cherè Botha Special School has been serving the community for nearly 32 years.
